Much of the charging of your car will be done at home, as this is where it will be cheapest. It is essential that you choose the right charger for your home. The cost of a car charging point installation will be decided by the factors such as how many meters the charger is going from the main head. How much work involves such as lifting floorboards or how many walls we are going through? The charger you choose will also have a bearing on the cost as all chargers are different prices, some chargers do not have pen fault so this will have to be added as an extra.

Car charging points survey and quote

Once you have made an enquiry one of the team will be in contact to do a full site survey. This will be a mobile survey unless it is a tricky install, then one of the team will be out to survey the job in person. We will then provide a fixed quote to you, once acceptance of the quote we will then do a DNO notice and gain permission for installations. We will then get the charger shipping to your address and arrange an installation date that suits us both.

There is government funding available for landlords, flat owners and people living in rental accommodation which is now called the EV Charge Point Grant – please call us for guidance if you think you are eligible.

Government-funded grants can provide 75% towards the cost of your charge point, up to a maximum of £350.

Tethered or Untethered?

This is a question we get asked all the time. A lot of people do not realize when they lease an EV, The cable does not come as standard. So, make sure you check with the car dealership what include in the package.

The benefits of having a tethered cable are that it cannot be lost and is harder to steal. Some factors to consider are that it cannot be taken with you meaning you will need a separate cable if you are planning on charging when you are mobile.

However, Tethered are more likely to get run over or be damaged. Please think about these factors when choosing the best car charging points for you.

There are many overnight tariffs available on the market now. This can use along with a solar system to maximise cost savings from the renewables revolution.
